Thekla has secured a significant pay raise from Tony Khan as she finalized her new multi-year contract with All Elite Wrestling (AEW) well ahead of free agency. The Jacksonville-based promotion moved quickly to lock her in with a notable increase in pay, primarily to prevent her from potentially signing with rival company WWE.
According to a report by Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful Select, Thekla hired professional representatives to negotiate the new deal. Her advocates believed there was a genuine possibility that she would attract serious interest from WWE if she entered free agency.
Fearing the loss of one of their top female stars to WWE, AEW officials agreed to meet all of Thekla’s demands. They gave her a substantial raise in the new contract specifically to ensure she remained with the company and did not fall into WWE’s hands.
Thekla has become one of AEW’s biggest stars since making the move to the United States in 2025 after leaving Stardom. She has delivered strong performances and standout rivalries with wrestlers like Kris Statlander, Toni Storm, and Mina Shirakawa. These have been some of the most engaging women’s feuds in recent times.
It appears Thekla played her cards perfectly. While WWE might have offered her greater mainstream exposure, the bigger payday from AEW helps pay the bills more effectively in the end.
