Tiffany Stratton and Jordynne Grace faced off in a singles match to determine the next challenger for the Women’s United States Champion, Giulia, on the April 17, 2026 episode of WWE SmackDown.
This was the go-home show for the SmackDown brand ahead of the WrestleMania 42 event, and Mami Rhea Ripley also appeared as she had a heated verbal confrontation with her WrestleMania opponent, Jade Cargill.
Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair were also seen locking horns against Bayley and Lyra Valkyria in a tag team match, serving as a preview of their WrestleMania fatal four-way match for the Women’s Tag Team Championship.

- Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair were shown getting ready in their locker room. Alexa recalled how good 2025 had been for them and Charlotte said that 2026 would be even better. They also talked about their growing friendship and Alexa told Charlotte that they needed to focus on beating Bayley & Lyra Valkyria later tonight. Charlotte said yes I know our friendship is going good but winning gold will be even better. Alexa left from there looking a bit annoyed and Charlotte said just think about it Alexa. Charlotte and Alexa as two time tag team champions.
- Jade Cargill, Michin and B-Fab entered the ring. Rhea Ripley also showed up and enters the ring before Jade could start speaking. Rhea said she would love nothing more than to lay Cargill out for all she has done, but she did not want Cargill to have an excuse not to walk into WrestleMania. Rhea also admitted that she was usually not the most patient of people, and said Cargill was lucky she was not in the ring whooping her a$$ right now. She also said Cargill did not let her meet her face to face in the ring because she was scared. Rhea said she would embarrass Cargill at WrestleMania, but B-Fab said Rhea should be the one who was embarrassed because she kept coming after Cargill and failing. Rhea said she had yet to come for Cargill because Cargill hid behind Michin and B-Fab, social media and anything she could to avoid coming face to face with her, and gave Cargill one last chance to say anything to her face alone. Cargill said she was not scared of some cosplay kid with insecurities and was everything Rhea wished she could be as well as a real b-tch, and that Rhea only got her way because of a weak a$$ locker room. She said she had been trying to scare Rhea, but since Rhea had not learned her lesson, she would put belt to a$$ at WrestleMania and make her quit. Rhea laughed at the idea of being like Cargill and said she had fought people like Cargill her entire life, and said her insecurities did not hold her back and made her who she is today. She said that if she wanted to make it quick, it would not be in her favor, then went on to call Jade narcissistic and a fake a$$ b-tch.
- The Irresistible Forces (Nia Jax and Lash Legend) took down the teams of Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss as well as Bayley and Lyra Valkyria as soon as their women’s tag team match started. This gave both teams a preview and sent a strong message about what the current tag team champions have in store for their rivals at WrestleMania 42.
